How many porta potties do I need for my event?

Plan 1 standard porta potty for every 200 guest-hours, about 50 guests for 4 hours, so multiply guests by hours, divide by 200 and round up. If alcohol is served, add 1 unit for every 4 units. If food is served with no sink nearby, add 1 hand washing station per 2 units.

Worked example: a 120-guest graduation party with beer

1. Guest-hours. 120 guests × 5 hours = 600 guest-hours.
2. Base units. 600 ÷ 200 = 3 standard units.
3. Alcohol. 3 units ÷ 4 = 0.75, round up to 1 more. Total: 4 units.
4. Food, no sink close by. 4 units ÷ 2 = 2 hand washing stations.
5. Accessibility. 5% of 4 units rounds to the minimum of 1, so make 1 of the 4 a wheelchair-accessible unit.

Why do you deliver Thursday or Friday and pick up Monday?

For weekend events, we drop units Thursday or Friday, 2 to 3 days early, and pick them up Monday, and those extra days cost nothing. One flat price covers drop-off, the event weekend and pickup. Early delivery means your restrooms are set before guests arrive, with no Saturday-morning scramble.

Nobody needs to be home if the spot is marked with a cone, flag or chalk and the path is clear. Text us a photo of the spot. The driver calls about 30 minutes before arrival.

Where should I put a porta potty at a backyard party?

Put a backyard party porta potty on flat, level ground about a short walk from the main area, with the door facing away from the crowd. A standard unit is about 44 inches wide and fits through a 48-inch gate on a dolly, so most fenced backyards work.

• Level grass, gravel or pavement — no steep slopes
• Away from the food table, but easy to find
• A clear path from the driveway for the driver
• Near a porch light or string lights for evening parties

Which unit type fits my event?

Most parties and reunions do fine with standard units plus 1 hand washing station per 2 toilets. Step up to sink units or deluxe flushing units for dressier events, and choose a 2-station restroom trailer when guests expect running water, lights and climate control.

What if it rains or my event date changes?

Event rentals cancel free up to 48 hours before delivery, so you can cancel and rebook a new date. Inside 48 hours, we keep the delivery fee. Porta potties work fine in light rain, so many hosts keep the date and set the units on gravel or pavement instead of soft grass.

Do I need a permit for a festival or public event?

A unit on private property, off the street, avoids a right-of-way permit. Festivals, 5Ks and public events in Nashville often need a Metro special events permit, and units on a street or sidewalk may need a Metro right-of-way permit. Public events should also plan at least 5% wheelchair-accessible units, minimum 1.
